Tip of the Week
Question: Today’s question is for those of you with smaller cars. True or false: The effects of a bad spark plug are twice as noticeable in a 4-cylinder car then they are in an 8-cylinder car.
Answer: True. At 55mph, each spark plug in a typical 8-cylinder engine fires 750 times per mile. At the same speed, each spark plug in a 4-cylinder engine must fire 1400 times. If only one plug misfires in the 4-cylinder engine, that car will suffer more than twice as much as an 8-cylinder car with the same problem.
*Enjoy the pleasures, convenience, and economy of your smaller car, but make sure you’re especially conscientious about keeping the engine tuned.
